Now in its 30th season, PYPO's five main ensembles are the heart of the organization. Young musicians in the first through twelfth grades play, learn, and perform with our team of music educators who are passionate about creating a nurturing and exciting environment in which young minds — and music — can thrive.

 

Students come from over 36 school districts, numerous private schools, and home-schooled students throughout the tri-state area. We are proud to have over 500 students playing with us each season. 

Overture Ensembles 
Developing Level

Overture is designed for developing to intermediate string or band players.  Overture musicians have an opportunity to learn more about playing their instrument while working in a string orchestra or band setting.

Intermezzo Ensembles 
Intermediate Level

Intermezzo allows musicians whose skills are still maturing to gain experience on their instrument while playing in both a string or band ensemble as well as a full orchestra setting.

Philharmonic Orchestra 
Advanced Level

Philharmonic is our most advanced ensemble.  It enables musicians to work on challenging, professional level repertoire which will advance their playing abilities in a full orchestra setting.
