Eftihia Arkoudis

Executive Director

Greek flutist Dr. Eftihia Arkoudis is a performer, educator, and arts entrepreneur known for being “a natural performer who conveys her ideas and narrative very well” (Pittsburgh Concert Society). A storytelling artist and visionary leader at heart, she uses music as a catalyst for advocacy and community-building to empower the next generation of musicians.

Eftihia’s performances have taken her across Greece, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Finland, Luxembourg, and the United States. She is the founder of EVA Arts Collective,  a 2025 Silver Global Music Awards winner, and 2024 Latin GRAMMY®-nominated album executive.  She is a founding member of the award-winning BETA Quartet (USA) and 3Pirouetten (Germany), and a Trevor James Low Flutes Artist,  having premiered over 50 works, recorded 7 chamber music albums, and co-led artistic initiatives intended to raise social justice awareness.

Eftihia believes that inspiring the youth returns tenfold across generations. She mentors students from pre-K through university and adult learners, including those with neurodivergency and limited mobility. This work unfolds through her private studio and her service as adjudicator, clinician, and speaker across the U.S. and Europe, including her outreach and fundraising work with the Tampere Flute Festival. To cultivate community through the arts, Dr. Arkoudis initiated a virtual guest artist series during her faculty appointments at Frostburg State University and the University of Florida, engaging 20+ international artists with her students, and 50+ auditors worldwide in a shared professional network. Her scholarship includes her dissertation “Contemporary Music Notation for the Flute: A Unified Guide to Notational Symbols for Composers and Performers” (15,500+ downloads) and co-authored publications for NAfME, The Flute View, and The International Journal of Music Learning.

Dr. Arkoudis was awarded the 2024 Outstanding Staff for Excellence award from West Virginia University for forging partnerships between higher education and local communities, while serving as Director of WVU’s Community Music Program (2021–2024). Today, she continues her mission in nonprofit arts leadership as the Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (PYPO).

Eftihia offers gratitude to all her teachers. She earned her DMA and MM from West Virginia University (Nina Assimakopoulos), and holds artistic diplomas from Prayner Konservatorium Wien (Austria, Reja Najfar) and Athens Conservatory (Greece, Urs Rüttimann), where she received the inaugural Urs Rüttimann Award for Excellence in Performance. She also studied with international soloists William Bennett and Jasmine Choi.
