Jeffery Knell holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Mercyhurst College and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Duquesne University. As a bassoonist, Jeff performed with many ensembles at Mercyhurst including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Musical Theater Pit Orchestras and Opera Pit Orchestras. In addition, he performed on various saxophones, clarinet, oboe, flute and trombone in the college Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, Saxophone Quartet and Woodwind Ensemble. He also sang with the College Choir and Carpe Diem Chorale.
Jeff has taught 4th and 5th grade bands in the Bethel Park School District since 2013, where he is fortunate to be able to start students on their instrumental music journey with strong fundamental skills and a good sense of humor. He also works as an assistant director for the Bethel Park Black Hawk Marching Band. Previously, he taught middle school band in the Derry Area School District and worked as a substitute teacher in both Bethel Park and Peters Township. An avid multi-instrumentalist, Jeff maintains a private woodwind studio in his home in the South Hills and enjoys working with young musicians to help them find and develop their talents on primary or secondary instruments. Away from music, he enjoys game nights, escape rooms and re-learning German. Jeff is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.
