Christina Crivelli joined PYPO’s staff in 2008, where she co-founded Prelude and Overture Strings. Ms. Crivelli is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education and is currently working towards her Doctorate of Music Ed. Ms. Crivelli has studied with Dr. Stanley Chepaitis, former concertmaster of the Arkansas Symphony, and Alejandra Urrutia, former concertmaster of the Concepcion Symphony Orchestra in Chile. Ms. Crivelli is a member of the American String Teachers Association and Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. She has participated in numerous workshops studying with top names in string pedagogy including Robert Gillespie, Bob Phillips, Anne Witt, and Sandra Dackow.
Ms. Crivelli serves as the director of the PYPO Overture Strings and assistant conductor of the Prelude Strings. During the weekdays, Ms. Crivelli enjoys teaching the Intermediate School strings program in the South Fayette School District. She maintains an extensive studio of violin and viola students in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and has worked with orchestras in the Beaver Area, East Allegheny, Moon Area, Seneca Valley, Bethel Park and Chartier’s Valley School Districts. She has performed on violin and viola with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic, Johnstown Symphony and Washington Symphony Orchestras. Her performances have taken her overseas where she has performed at numerous concert halls in Germany, Austria and Prague. She is the founding member, manager and violinist with the Three Rivers String Quartet and has recorded albums with several local artists as well as performed on stage with country singer LeAnn Rimes.
