We cordially invite instrumentalists (all orchestral instruments) completing grades 4 - 8 to participate in the 2010 Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Summer Camp. Tuition includes a full lunch with beverage, and a camp tee-shirt. (Download application here).
This week-long day camp will provide an outlet for a young musician to play their instrument, study music, meet people, and have fun in a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere. No audition required.
The staff are all music educators and performers, and they each recognize the importance of creating stimulating musical opportunities to musicians at this crucial age. Along with string ensemble and band music, the Youth Philharmonic camp aims to give young musicians (strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion) combined opportunities to play symphonic music, which is typically not available until students are in high school.
High school mentors, who are members of the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, will also work side-by-side with younger musicians, encouraging and mentoring.
Camp will conclude with a Friday afternoon performance for friends and family. Join us for a week of great music, learning and FUN!
