PYPSE Auditions

PYPSE auditions are open to students in the third through eighth grade. The audition requirements listed on this application are the minimum required for entrance and being able to meet these requirements will not guarantee an applicant's acceptance.

Our music staff will select applicants who can play at the level of students currently in each ensemble. The different levels represented by the orchestra and ensemble are intended to help each student grow at his or her own pace as a player and musician. However, students exhibiting skills above the current PYPSE level will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the adjudication panel and Music Director for part-time, or full admission into the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

To audition:

1. Complete audition application and send with $15 audition fee to Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, P.O. Box 15675, Pittsburgh, PA 15244. Applications and non-refundable fee must be received by PYPO at least two weeks prior to your audition appointment.

2. Call Carol Slopek, Executive Director at 412-403-0002 to schedule an audition appointment. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled audition appointment.

4. If you are unable to keep your audition appointment, contact Carol Slopek at 412-403-0002 at least one week in advance of your audition date.
