The PYPO Prelude String Ensemble was established in the 2007-2008 season to provide young musicians with the opportunity to receive experience working in more focused string ensemble environment, as well as in a full orchestra setting.
The PYPO Prelude Ensembles allow those musicians whose skills are still maturing to gain experience on their instrument and to eventually progress to the advanced Philharmonic Orchestra. PYPO Prelude Ensembles present three performances per season.
Students rehearse and perform as a string ensemble and combine with the Prelude Band ensemble to make the PYPO Prelude Full Orchestra. Prelude Strings is directed by PYPO’s Executive Director and Prelude Strings Director, Erika Pierce.
Rehearsals are held on Saturday mornings, typically 10:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. from late September through March.
Tuition is $550.
Musicians are accepted through an audition process, by appointment only. All Prelude Ensemble applicants must register online and schedule an audition appointment.
