Student musicians are chosen by audition in May from over 32 school districts in the Greater Pittsburgh area. 

Audition Application Fee is $20

Tuition for the 2012 - 2013 Season: Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra - $550
PYPO Prelude String Ensemble - $395
PYPO Prelude Woodwind Ensemble - $200 (Introductory Rate)
PYPO Prelude Brass Ensemble - $275

Second and subsequent musicians from the same family each receive a 10% multi-musician discount.

Musicians are accepted through an audition process by appointment only. 2012-2013 season auditions are scheduled for April 28th and May 6th, 2012. See "Auditions" page for audition information, requirements and application.

All Ensemble rehearsals are held on Saturdays from mid-October through early April, at Chartiers Valley Intermediate School located at 2030 Swallow Hill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Respective rehearsal times as follows:

PYPO - 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Prelude String Ensemble - 10:00 AM - Noon
Prelude Woodwind Ensemble - 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM
Prelude Brass Ensemble - 10:30 AM - Noon

The Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra performs 4 - 5 concerts per season in the Western PA area.
